We would like to take this time to introduce ourselves and explain to you our important role at Imagine Columbus Primary Academy. Mr. T, Mr. Martin, and myself (Mr. F) all work together in the ELL department for the betterment of our students and community. Our department has several goals that we are striving towards in our ongoing efforts to help the people that we serve and care so much about.

Firstly, we have the goal of providing for our students’ academic success. We aim to achieve this by focusing on providing small group instruction, tutoring, and reading assistance. All of this is done to help students become comfortable with English so that they can enjoy the process of learning and feel a sense of belonging.

Secondly, we provide much needed support to our students’ parents in the form of community assistance. Both Mr. T and Mr. Martin provides many services for our families; they have been instrumental in connecting our community members to services outside of school like housing, funding, and medical services. All of this is done to ensure the health and wellbeing of those we serve in and out of the school.

Lastly, our department is focused on improving the sense of family and community for all staff and families. Our department has, and continues to, plan many community events hosted at our school. One of the best examples of this is our yearly celebration of Holi Festival and community nights. Additionally, we make it a goal of welcoming new families from around the world by ensuring that they see representation of their people, language, and culture in Imagine Columbus Primary Academy.
